Lisa Young

Cellist, String Instructor

B.S. Music Education- Lebanon Valley College  | M.S. Education Development & Strategies- Wilkes University

Originally from Pennsylvania, Lisa is a professional cellist, former public-school orchestra director, and private string instructor with more than 15 years of teaching experience. She holds a B.S. in K–12 Music Education from Lebanon Valley College and an M.S. in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University.

After 10 years directing public-school orchestra programs in Pennsylvania and Texas, Lisa transitioned to her private studio full-time in 2022. She now teaches cello, violin, viola, and upright bass to children, teens, and adults, both in person throughout Mesa and select East Valley communities and online.

Lisa believes great music instruction should meet students where they are. Whether a student is building confidence in school orchestra, preparing for an audition or performance, tackling advanced repertoire, or simply learning music they love, lessons are shaped around each musician’s individual goals, interests, and learning style.

Experience

Lisa has performed as a cellist for more than two decades, with experience spanning orchestral performance, touring and recording, weddings and special events, musical productions, contemporary ensembles, and live performances throughout the community.

Her musical background reaches far beyond traditional classical repertoire. Lisa enjoys exploring the versatility of the cello through contemporary music, arranging, collaboration, and creative performance projects. That same philosophy carries into her teaching: students are encouraged to develop strong musicianship while discovering the repertoire, goals, and musical experiences that make them excited to keep playing.
